The Hammacher Schlemmer Institute sought to find the best clarity-enhancing telephone available, and this one was rated highest for its sound quality, ease of use, and features. It was rated best for sound quality because of its patented Digital Clarity™ technology, which makes voices 40 dB louder by amplifying high-frequency sounds and reducing low-frequency noise that causes interference and distortion, unlike lesser models that only adjust for volume. It was selected as the easiest to use among all tested models because it has large buttons, an easy-to-read display, and a large-print instruction guide. The phone was found to have the most useful and functional features of all the tested models. Chief among them is a message-waiting indicator with a solid red lamp that is easily distinguished from its incoming call indicator that causes the entire dial pad to flash red. You can store up to 50 names and numbers on the telephone itself, and the unit is call waiting and caller ID capable.
